Products

The Group has a wide range of plasterboard products that provide a variety of solutions suitable for any project.

Plasterboard: a multitude of solutions

Plasterboard is manufactured in several styles, with different sizes and thicknesses that meet the widest possible range of technical and aesthetic requirements. The Group operates a Technical Development Center to capitalize on all of gypsum’s properties, to improve the quality of its products and to drive innovation. This enables designers and contractors to find the solutions that best meet their building specifications and regulatory demands.

Lafarge plasterboards

A water-resistant system

Prégy™ WAB

At long last, bathrooms, kitchens, shower-rooms and public locker-rooms can benefit from partition walls capable of resisting the frequently damp-laden atmosphere!

The 1st plasterboard that has no fear of water! This is the result of 3 years of R&D in the Lafarge laboratories, more than 1 year of tests, and several pilot building sites.

This exclusive system combines a specially formulated plaster core and a new-concept non-paper liner. This unprecedented innovation offers 3 key benefits:

  • a more waterproof surface,
  • less absorption of water by the plaster,
  • and more stable mechanical strength after damping.

As a result, the plasterboard retains its level of performance and esthetic qualities whatever the ambient humidity.

The system (plasterboards, coats, strips, screws, etc.) is sold in France (Prégy™ WAB), in Germany, in South Korea and in the United-Kingdom. The next step for this product... the United States with excellent prospects for exterior applications.

Synia™, an exclusive technology

Synia™, launched in June 2004, is the first plasterboard with 4 tapered edges. It's revolutionary!

Once installed, no overlap is visible at the transversal joins. This simplifies the work of plasterboard installers and results in a perfect finish.

The results of a customer survey illustrate the ease of installing Synia™:

  • time savings of 20% to 50% when finishing joins,
  • a 20% to 30% reduction in the use of joining compound.

Lafarge is the only Group in the world able to mass-produce plasterboard sheets with 4 tapered edges on a production line.

Record-breaking Synia™

10 million m² sold worldwide!

In May 2007, less than 3 years after it was launched, Synia™ has reached a new milestone in its development with global sales of 10 million m². This is equivalent to all of the ceilings in 100,000 homes!

PLAtec™, custom solutions

PLAtec™ is a set of custom plasterboard solutions suitable for decoration, fittings and finishing.

With PLAtec™ sheets, the implementation of architectural designs is quick and attractive, thanks to simple assembly at the worksite.

In depth

Properties of gypsum
Gypsum has numerous properties:
  • thermal insulation,
  • hygrometric regulation (humidity of the air),
  • acoustic insulation,
  • fire resistance.

Pregymax®, for optimal insulation

Pregymax® is a plasterboard with a layer of thermal-acoustic insulation. As well as having exceptional thermal and acoustic properties, Pregymax® is easy to install.

The result: wall lining systems with outstanding thermal performance for interior and exterior walls.

Ongoing innovation in every country

Around the world, Lafarge is launching innovations for local markets. For example:
  • Brazil has developed a fire-resistant door. It enhances fire protection performance by replacing ceramic wool with 3 layers of plasterboard,
  • Germany offers the "Dekoform System", a comprehensive solution for making curved decorative components at worksites,
  • the United States has marketed a ready-to-use "rapid coat" to joint plasterboard. This results in productivity gains for fixers.

How to create value from waste

Large amounts of natural resources, particularly minerals and fossil fuels, are used to manufacture cement. For many years the Group has been working to reduce the environmental impact of its activities by finding ways to obtain value from waste products.
