Methodology

At Lafarge, all employees are involved in sustainable development efforts. Individual and group performances are regularly evaluated according to international standards.

Management

Sustainable development is an integral part of Lafarge's management policy. Managers are expected to meet social and environmental objectives.

Ratings organizations

For the last ten years or so, rating agencies have been evaluating companies on their economic, environmental and social responsibility. Lafarge ranks among the best corporations.

Benchmarking and reporting

How can a sustainable development policy be evaluated? A number of tools exist, including the G.R.I. (Global Reporting Initiative), an internationally recognized reporting standard.

Stakeholder panels

The stakeholder panel expresses its opinions on the Group's efforts. The Group benefits from this constructive criticism and its activities become more transparent. Likewise, an advisory panel on biodiversity was created in 2006.

The Group’s partnerships

The challenges of sustainable construction concern all players in the building sector. Lafarge works closely with industrial associations, energy suppliers and architects to identify building methods which are cleaner and more environmentally friendly.
