Romania - Creation of a business incubator

The Medgidia plant had to restructure its headcount during its integration phase into the Lafarge Group. New jobs had to be created. Thus, the plant supported the emergence of small and medium-sized enterprises through a business incubator. Local authorities were eager to support the project.

Objective

The first objective of the Medgidia business incubator project was to encourage the creation of new jobs. Furthermore, it was important to support new businesses, by hosting them and providing them with administrative incentives and consultancy services.

Summary

For Lafarge, the project consisted of:
- renovating a building owned by the cement plant in the city;
- creating spaces to host offices, small to medium production areas, meeting and training rooms;
- co-financing the administrative expenses during the stay of the businesses incubated in the building (telephone, secretary, fax machine, photocopier, utilities);
- consultancy and training for the representatives and employees of the hosted businesses.
