Kenya – Creation of a new technical training center

Technical training of employees is a major factor in the development of industrial activities, particularly in Africa where 1 plant and 2 new kilns are under construction.

Mombasa
Cement/Kenya

Objective

Optimizing use of industrial tools and facilitating skills transfer.

Summary

To meet the needs of new industrial requirements and optimize plants' production levels, the TCEA (Europe-Africa Technical Center) has set up the Mombasa School Plant in Kenya.
Employees who want to develop their skills and knowledge will receive various stages of training there, combining theoretical lessons and on-site practical work. Trainers come from other Units in the business line, therefore bringing their own expertise and best practice.
Following this apprenticeship period, a certificate is awarded to certify that the task can be carried out independently 1 year after the training.

Results

Opened in 2007, in 2008 the school organized a total of 26 training sessions for 250 employees.

Persons concerned

  • the TCEA training director,
  • the trainers,
  • all employees from Europe and Africa eligible for training.
