Acting locally

Everywhere it has a presence, the Group works with local populations and associations to implement action programs for economic and social development, environmental protection and public health.

The aim is to exchange viewpoints and know-how and implement practical solutions that respond to local needs.

A multilocal approach

Engaging in local development

Lafarge is present in 79 countries around the world. In all of these countries, the Group helps to improve the quality of life for local populations by:

  • acting in favor of their natural environment,
  • contributing to local economic development,
  • helping to protect their health and defend their rights.

Listening, understanding and meeting expectations

Lafarge adapts its action programs to the needs of local populations. The Group engages in ongoing dialog with all stakeholders in order to:

  • explain its business and its objectives,
  • keep up to date with changing needs and provide appropriate solutions,
  • encourage populations to adopt a sustainable development approach.

Lafarge's presence extends across 5 continents on over 2,000 sites. Aware of the impact its activity has, the Group is committed to long-term integration in the local communities around its sites and contributing to their development.

Global and local partnerships

A number of programs organized in collaboration with local bodies illustrate the "on the ground" approach taken by Lafarge and its determination to engage and dialog with communities and stakeholders. To bring together the expertise needed in a given situation, the Group works with associations, NGOs (nongovernmental organizations), public and semipublic organizations and medical staff, among others.
