Water

AMBITIONS 2020

Good freshwater availability is a critical social, environmental and economic issue. 28% of our cement production is located in areas of water scarcity. This means that our behavior, water use and discharge and our relationship with communities upstream and downstream of our operations matter more than ever before.

We measure and report the water footprint of our industrial sites. We are committed to reducing our water footprint through best practices such as rainwater harvesting, reuse of waste water and water recycling.

We are also committed to working closely with local stakeholders around our production sites to promote more responsible water stewardship in the wider water basin.

Santanu - Lafarge India Water Program

In India, our units have started partnering the people residing in proximity of our factories by making available fresh water for drinking, and raising awareness of the need for water conservation.
