The Rhône-Alpes high-speed rail line (LGV) spans 115 km but the distance only tells one side of the story. Its construction faced numerous technical challenges due to the treacherous terrain across the French Alps. Between 1992 and 1994, the LGV entered into service section by section, and includes 10 viaducts and four tunnels with total lengths of 4.5 and 5.3 km respectively.
We supplied over 280,000 m3 of high quality concrete in total on the project, accompanied by our industry-leading know-how, flexibility and 24/7 availability to meet client expectations. As a result, we were able to effectively manage and optimize project logistics for the general contractor, Bouygues Construction, thanks to our network of permanent mixing plants that ran the length of the entire worksite, mobile mixing plants and teams available around the clock.
