Egypt: superior quality of Lafarge concrete recognized

10/19/2010

Lafarge, in collaboration with Al Futtaim Carillon and Orascom CI joint venture, delivered between October 2008 and July 2010, 150,000m³ of zero-defect concrete for the construction of the regional Cairo Festival City complex. Located outside Cairo, the complex is the first of its kind in the area to house a shopping centre, a leisure park, luxury residential villas and apartments, offices, hotels, etc.

In July 2010, the complex was awarded the standard of "Excellent" from the American Concrete Institute for the consistent quality of concrete deliveries, thus recognizing Lafarge as a high-volume and high-quality supplier, superior to the country's standards.
A second delivery of around 100,000m³ is to be completed in April 2011, meanwhile the opening of the Cairo Festival City is planned for 2012.
