Concrete available whatever the weather for a Canadian wind farm

Canadian cities can now breathe easy while being supplied with renewable wind energy thanks to the 20,000-acre Prince Township Wind Farm near Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Home to 126 turbines, this wind farm gets its structural support from our concrete.

Located in northern Ontario, the Prince Township Wind Farm is Canada’s third largest, boasting a 189-MW capacity. Since its completion in 2006, Ontario’s power grid has benefited from an added surge of clean and renewable electricity!

Snow and sub-zero temperatures didn’t hamper our ability to work through the winter: we provided 53,000 m3 of concrete for the turbine bases to ensure the project maintained its tight production schedule.

How? By constructing a mobile plant capable of consistently supplying concrete resistant to the cold. Once winter turned to summer, we relocated and reconfigured the mobile plant for warm-weather production, installing a cooling system to meet project specifications

The Prince Wind Farm helps to make for more sustainable cities and today provides clean, renewable energy to 40,000 Canadian homes!
