Construction of the Pavillon de la France began in November 2008. Conceived and designed by architect Jacques Ferrier, it will be a symbol of innovative French engineering at the exhibition, which will be held from May to October 2010.

In response to the exhibition’s theme, "Better city, better life", the pavilion is based around the concept of the “sensual city”. Six senses are focused on: taste, touch, smell, sight, hearing and balance/movement.

Lafarge is already collaborating with Jacques Ferrier for the Hypergreen eco-tower project and has teamed up with the architect again to produce the Pavillon de la France.
